The MinFarm Jämtland project
Today, many of us dream of living close to nature, growing our own and forgetting about supermarket shopping and factory food. Life would be better, knowing that you lived sustainably off your own vegetables, herbs, fruits, dairy and livestock. However this dream can seem always a little further down the road and out of reach. The MinFarm project is about making this goal more attainable for those of us who can't quite yet uproot and move to the countryside. It is about farm ownership through long-term partnerships with local farmers for more sustainable living and better quality food on our plates. It is about returning to traditional low impact farming methods that are good for our environment with little carbon footprint.
MinFarm will allow customers build a virtual farm online that is grown locally, by farmers. A customer can choose whatever veg, fruit, dairy, herbs and livestock, they like, and watch them grow online.
Everything is farmed locally and the food is delivered fresh to the customer's kitchen when they like it. Farm visits, will allow families an opportunity to see their crops and livestock throughout the year, making it easy to connect with the land and see where their food really comes from. Our website lets you follow the MinFarm project and learn more about how it can be used by small farmers everywhere. Our goal is to create a new business model for small organic mixed farms based on sharing the value of farm ownership with customers in towns and cities. This April we will be launching our service as a pilot project in Jämtland, Sweden.
